Americans approve President Donald Trump by a wide margin of 56% to 34%.
That’s a reversal from December 2016, when 54% approved of the president.
However, a new poll by the Pew Research Center finds that Americans have more negative opinions about Trump than positive ones, with 56% of Americans viewing him unfavorably.
A majority of Trump supporters (52%) say they would prefer Trump to stay in office, compared with a quarter who’d prefer to see him step down.
A third of Trump voters (34%) also say they think the president’s administration is doing a good job, while a similar share (30%) say it’s doing a bad job.
Among the president and his supporters, 58% say the president is doing the right thing, while 38% say he’s doing the wrong thing.
While a majority (56%) of Trump’s supporters say the media is biased against him, just one in five (19%) say that way about the president himself.
The survey was conducted Feb. 17-21 among 1,012 adults nationwide.
It has a margin of sampling error of plus or minus 4 percentage points.
